Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis, in powder form) is a health-promoting cyanobacterium. It is considered a “superfood” because this exceptional, purely natural algae contains valuable organically bound vitamins and trace elements, as well as all essential amino acids, which may support muscle growth, healthy muscle development and cell regeneration.

Spirulina contains vitamins A (beta-carotene), B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 (folic acid), B12, K and biotin, which may significantly support the overall health and immune system of horses. Its naturally occurring minerals such as manganese, zinc, copper, selenium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iodine and chromium are an added benefit. Spirulina may also have a positive effect on digestion and metabolism, making it suitable for overweight horses as well.

An advantage of a mineral lick is that the animal can respond to its individual and current requirements. Horses can therefore use the lick as needed, allowing the feed ration to be individually adapted.
