It is also a frequently used active ingredient in repellents for humans. Insects perceive smell differently. Molecules of substances dissolved in the air bind to receptors and trigger, in the case of Icaridin, a repellent nerve reaction. As a repellent, it repels Icarida insects without killing them. When RP1 is applied to the coat, due to the volatility of the active substance, a thin protective layer is built up, which protects for several hours. In addition, the active substance Icaridin is very gentle on the skin, so it is also used for human medicines. The preparation does not contain prohibited substances according to the FEI 2019 anti-doping rules. Unfortunately, so far it is only produced in a pint pack with a spray.
